Kerala is known forits temples and its architecture that are old and rare. The beautiful andhistorical temples showcase the harmonious blend of stonework, woodwork,stuccowork and painting. They are the icon of the vibrant traditions of Kerala.The woodwork of Kerala temples is unique and of great importance.

One among the manytemples in Kerala is the Laxmi Venkatesh temple that enshrines the beautifulimages of Laxmi and Venkatesh or Vishnu. The temple was built in December 1989and is situated at Hosdurg in Kanhangad. Due to its magnificent and mysticalvalue, the temple is thronged by tourists and devotees all through the year.

Another very famoustemple is the Guruvayoor temple whose main deity is Lord Sree Krishna in hisyouthful form. Its eastern nada is the main entrance. There is a 7 meters highDeepasthambham which has 13 circular receptacles and it looks amazing when litcompletely. The other deities in the temple are Ganapathy, Sree Ayyappa andEdathedathu Kavil Bhagavathy. The temple is known to heal various difficultphysical ailments. Exquisite mural paintings and carvings are inlaid on thewalls of the sanctum sanctorum. Lot of people come to catch a glimpse of theNirmalya Darshanam celebrated in the pre-dawn hours i.e. about 3 am.

Yeah, once I visited India and I also went Kerala. The awesome art of the walls of the temples there really amused me a lot...
