Hello All!, Im traveling from Chile for the Inferno 2012!
I have booked the Hotel for the whole week so I will be just one week in Oslo and it will be my first time on Norway, so, here comes my questions.
There is some places on Oslo that I "must-see" on this visit?
I just have one place addressed so far ( The viking ship museum ).
There is a typical Norwegian food/drinks that I must try?
Any recomendation will be welcome, restaurants names or meal?
There is something that I must know?...
Dangerous places?
Nice bars?
Best way to get around the city(train,bus,taxi)?

You have to try moosemeat and whalesteak, visit Neseblod and check out rock-hangouts like Unholy and Rock-In!!! Don't go out in the middle of the night though... You might get raped

Hi guys!
For museums, I also recommend the museums in Bygdoy, like the Kon-tiki museum, Fram museum, Norske folkemuseum (open air museum with many traditional houses, and a very nice stavechurch)... If you like paintings, the Munch museum is a must see as well!
I'll work 2 days as a volunteer at the festival, but on the 2 other days, I'll hope I'll be able to do a bit of tourism, that would be cool to gather with some people for that.

Thanks a lot, I have never tried moosemeat or whalesteak. There is not forbbiden to eat whales? If not, I will try that food for sure!, Neseblod looks like a very interesting place to learn a bit of black metal history

Wow, I have never heard about that museums, I have checked it on Google and all it seems to be very near from the Viking ships museum!....and thats great!...I will attend for sure!

It is indeed allowed to eat whale in Norway. It can be quite expensive to have a whale steak in a restaurant, but it is something to taste at least once in your life. Tasting red meat coming from sea is a great paradox!
@ArianaCadabra : for sure it will be fun to gather for a few cultural activities before enjoying the black arts, let's keep in touch!

It sounds good to me, we all should keep on contact and maybe we can meet and do some tourism on the city and of course share some beers  .
Do you know how much expensive could be a whalesteak, Im really curious about this kind of food ?

Last year I had a whalesteak in Bergen for something like 240NoK, but I never had one in Oslo, so I can't advise you any place...
I'm coming alone from Paris, I'll stay from the 3rd to the 8th at the Christiana hotel! What about you guys?

I'll probably rent a bed at the youth hostel. Low budget, cheap hotel haha And I'm coming alone too! But I'll be in Scandinavia by the end of February, probably arrive in Oslo around April 3 or 4.
