I totally agree with the Sweden visit. If I am gonna go might as well do it right. Ill probably head out there tuesday morning ....spend all day there and come back at night. Being able to visit Gothenburg would be super cool though. If the festival line up sucks on Wednesday then i might just spend the night in Gothenburg and come back then next day.

I just checked the nsb.no webpage on train times for going from Oslo S station to Goteborg (Gothenburg).

There are 3 trains, one at 7am, 1pm and then 6pm. The returning trains are at 6:45am, 12:45pm and 5:45pm. And there are still the cheaper 199NOK tickets for pretty much all of them. You have to buy the cheaper tickets online, you can't buy them on the train.

I did a day jaunt to Bergen my first time in Norway. Took the night train there Monday night, and then took the night train back Tuesday night. It was definitely worth it. I've been contemplating doing a trip to Stavanger before Inferno this year, I meant to go after the fest in 2008, but couldn't make it at the last minute. I really want to see the Swords in Rock.

If you want to meet up sometime after I arrive and go hit the folk museum and viking ship museum, let me know. It's easily done in a few hours. Will need to double check what time they close though. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing on Tuesday yet, depends on when some friends are arriving into town. Edited to Add: Okay, scrap the sightseeing on Monday, the Folk Museum is closed on Mondays. That's unfortunate. Ill probably catch the train at 1 pm Monday going to Gothenburg ...spent the night there and then come back Tuesday night. Checking out Sweden.... specially the home of some great Swedish bands would be worth it. You mentioned....Stavanger....havent heard of that town or the Swords in Rock before..maybe I need to hit the history books again ..
