| So, i contacted the hotel via email and booked a room. The response i got is that they need my credit card number. Is that really normal? I dont really want to just hand it out to some random person. So, to those others here that have booked, did they ask you the same question?
One other thing. This years Inferno was my first Inferno and when i booked the hotel room i called them up and they reserved it for me, and i payed for the room when i arrived. It was like that for my friends too that had booked way ahead. The reserved the room and payed when they arrived.
Any other here that have had to pay ahead, for the room. Or have you reserved? |

Yes, Clarion requires a credit card to hold the room, but they don't charge you until you arrive, or don't show without cancelling. I gave them all my info via email and then called the hotel to give them my card information.
As for the Edderkoppen, they only required a credit card for late arrival.
Each hotel handles things differently.
I will say, DO NOT send your credit card info via email. CALL them to give them the info.

| I'm not 100% sure,
but I don't think there's anything wrong with handing out your creditcard number as long as
you don't give the expiry date and the security code (to be found on the back) with it.
I might be totally wrong though

| If anyone get's their hand on your credit card number, they can make up a date and sometimes it will go through. And not every place requires the code on the back. This is why it's good to shred things with such information and you don't send it over unsecure methods via the internet, like email.
This is a hotel, it's reputable. They won't charge you until you check in, or for some reason don't show up and haven't called to cancel.

| True that they can do alot of harm with that kind of information. I would not have given away that kind of information unless i felt that i could trust the hotel. Not saying, of course, that the people that work on that hotel can't get their hands on it and be cocks and drain my account.
But after alot of calling and talking i finally got to the person that could help me, so now my room is booked. Now, only the ticket is missing in action. So think i should pick it up after work today, or after work tomorrow.
Just remember to call; 23 10 80 92
Then you will be able to talk to the person that actually can book the room for you without you sending your card information over mail. Because unless you actually encrypt what you write in the email, it will be sent unencrypted and anyone can read what you have written. So it is not safe at all. |

| | Guess I'll make a call tomorrow. Called the booking number yesterday, and after half an hour of waiting I was told to send an email instead. They haven't replied to my mail all day, and this whole creditcard number situation makes me kind of nervous. Hm, this shouldn't have to be so hard.. |

| | Do you need to have the money on the credit card to get a room? Or could you just give them our information about the card and pay with cash? Cause I have the money for the hotel in cash and not on my card..Would that be a problem? But I have sendt them information about my card and all that. |

| I didn't have the money on my card but it was fine. You just need to give the creditcard number and the date the the card expires.
Edit: I got the money in cash to. And it was okey. You can just pay when you comes to the hotel |
