Hello, everybody!

I`m currently writing parts of my bachelordegree-paper about how/if " (true) norwegian black metal" can represent the norwegian way of living, our past(as vikings/odinists) and myths/folktales", and as a part of this, I would like to ask YOU what you define as typical norwegian and what you relate to when you hear "norwegian black metal" such as Emperor, Darkthrone, Windir, Gorgoroth, Burzum or any band you will put in that category.

I doesn`t matter what country you come from, what your age is or if you`re a die-hard fan or not, but that you can reflect a bit and post a serious answer. (which will be highly appreciated!)

Cancellations and Replacements

Unfortunately both Scum and Yattering had to cancel their appearances at the festival. Replacing them will be Myrkskog and Battered.

I'm not bothered about Scum, but losing Yattering is a shame. I can't remember what Myrkskog sound like, and i'll be seeing Battered at the Vreid gig. So overall i think im indifferent to the changes

SAHG, the Norwegian band featuring members of GORGOROTH, MANNGARD and AUDREY HORNE, will release their debut album, "Sahg 1", on Aril 18 via Regain Records. The four-piece was founded in early 2004 and spent the past year in the studio writing and recording their first CD, consisting of "ten songs of classic heavy rock with a groove that would make John Bonham proud, highlighted with epic and soaring melodies that will even leave a die-hard IRON MAIDEN fan breathless," according to a press release.

Although SAHG has made a great deal of effort preparing their album, there has also been time for a few gigs around Norway. The band delivered a highly successful performance at Piggtrådfestivalen and also appeared at the prestigious Hole in the Sky festival.

"Norway's renowned Inferno festival will be held in Oslo on April 13-15, 2006. The organizers have posted the following update:

Friday February 3rd is the day that we will have our annual kick off party and announce the full lineup. The kick off will be held at John Dee in Oslo and the tickets cost 200 NOK.

Performing live will be a horde of musicians from bands like Immortal, Satyricon, Aura Noir, Enslaved, Susperia, Dimmu Borgir, Pagans Mind, and Zyklon. They will play songs from influential bands such as W.A.S.P, Slayer, Accept, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Mötley Crue, Twisted Sister, Pantera, Bathory, Celtic Frost, Venom, Mötorhead, Kreator, Testament, Anthrax and more.

There will also be a kick off party in Trondheim the same day. More information on this will follow shortly.

In addition, Borknagar, Witchcraft and Endstille will appear alongside already announced Emperor, Marduk and Bolt Thrower."

I don't knopw what to make of it's ambiguous wording. Musicians from bands like Immortal and Enslaved?

As many might already know, Blabbermouth posted a news item here on the 28th November, saying that Bolt Thrower and Bloodthorn will play at Inferno.
This was confirmed 2 days later on this site. Do you think that they will be proven right again?
If not, who will be announced tomorrow?

This appeared on blabbermouth not long ago. Would like to know if this is real now.

BOLT THROWER and BLOODTHORN have reportedly been confirmed for the 2006 edition of the Inferno Festival, set to take place April 13-15 at the Rockefeller Music Hall and John Dee venues in Oslo, Norway. Also scheduled to appear at the festival are the reunited black metal legends EMPEROR, MARDUK and 26 other bands that have yet to be announced.

IMMORTAL frontman Abbath (real name: Olve Eikemo) has reportedly joined forces with original IMMORTAL drummer Armagedda, ENSLAVED guitarist Arve Isdal and GORGOROTH bassist King in a brand-new project dubbed simply I. The group have finished writing two-thirds of the material for their upcoming full-length debut, which will feature lyrics written primarily by former IMMORTAL guitarist Demonaz (real name: Harald Nævdal).
