First time on Oslo!

Hello All!, Im traveling from Chile for the Inferno 2012!
I have booked the Hotel for the whole week so I will be just one week in Oslo and it will be my first time on Norway, so, here comes my questions.

There is some places on Oslo that I "must-see" on this visit?
I just have one place addressed so far ( The viking ship museum ).

There is a typical Norwegian food/drinks that I must try?
Any recomendation will be welcome, restaurants names or meal?

There is something that I must know?...
Dangerous places?
Nice bars?
Best way to get around the city(train,bus,taxi)?

A bit of tourism before the fest

Hi guys,
for my first post, I'd like to share thoughts on my trip before the fest.
I'll arrive the 16th april around 12PM to Oslo (cheapest trip I got).

My main idea is to go to Stavanger and Bergen before the fest.
Based on the topology of the country I think it's neater to do Oslo -> Stavenger -> Bergen -> Oslo (yeah I must get back to Oslo for the fest, you know).

So, Google maps just said me it will takes ages to reaches different destinations by rented car (+a truckload of money).

So my big question is : Can I try to make this loop by train with less time and much more affordable prices ? if not, any backup solution ?

Also, do you know good places to rest in Stavenger and Bergen ?

Anyone from Poland, for 2012 edition?

I am travelling alone, from Sweden, and want to meet some people who are willing to have fun in between the gigs.
I will also be working as a volunteer at the festival. My name is Helena, and I am 23 years old.

Hi, I'm milton from Argentina and in April we will be traveling with 7 friends over to Oslo to attend the festival! We already have our plane tickets and inferno.

First we go to Paris, then fly to Oslo Gardermoen Airport. We are looking for hotels, surely we will go to Royal Clarion, but we are looking for other offers.
Would be helpful recommendations.

8 Argentine travel 24 hours to reach Oslo, surely will be worth it.

Hotelroom at the Inferno hotel for 999kr!

Me and my boyfriend had booked a doubleroom at the Clarion Hotel Royal Christiania, since we booked early we got the inferno prices 999kr for a double room.
Sadly we wont be going anyways, but the hotel is going to charge us just the same.

So if anyone would like a cheap doubleroom at the inferno hotel, let me know and you can have it

(It's only booked from friday-saturday, so 1 night only)

...As you can see...
I was wondering what people consider is the best hostel/hotel to crash at while staying in Oslo.
Such as; Location to the Festival, cleansiness and of course PRICE!

This year i stayed at Sentrum Pensjonat [it was the cheapest at the time i was booking], i really liked it, it was clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful
also really close to the station =)

However, next year i was thinking of maybe trying another hostel, you know, see what else Oslo has to offer, see if there are better ones out there...

So any help or advice would be great!

I myself are going to my first inferno and big festival alone. I've never been on something like this. So im kind of exited to see what kind of peopel i will meet. But my biggest wish is of course to find a sweet girl to hang out with :$

I have a few mates staying in the clarion but hell thats some expensive shit!!!
So im blanking that and coming to one of the two hostels to save pennys for more beer!

A few questions:

Who else is staying in these hostels?
Has any1 stayed here before?
And what hostel is more relaxed for party people?

I hope we can get a few real metalheads together for a massive piss up in the room before we goto the gigs!

Precis som titeln lyder så är jag en 20-årig svensk i Trondheim som tycks bli ensam hela festivalen dessvärre.
Kanske finns det hopp om någon har lust att umgås under festivalen; dricka pilsner och dra på spelningar? Boende en eller flera nätter vore inte helt fel heller, det löser sig annars på något vis.

London to Oslo - advice needed

Hey there,

This is a topic that's probably been brought up before, but but I'm at my wits' end. I've never been to Norway before, but am planning on coming out to Inferno next week, and could use some advice on making my trip run a bit smoother. I need someplace to stay that won't break the bank - the hotel is far too costly, and even the hostels are a bit on the pricey side. I also don't know anyone in Norway, and don't speak the language. I just moved to London from the USA, and am admittedly clueless about traveling in Europe as of yet. Any advice or tips you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Travelling from the States / Travel Advice / Meet up

I Will be traveling from the States to Oslo for the first time to see the Inferno Fest. Will probably be staying at the official Hotel ( whatever the name is ) and will arrive in Oslo the Monday ( 29 th ) the week of the festival. Since its my first time in Norway I wanted to get as much sight seeing in as possible. Any ideas on which places to check out in Oslo? I would be very much interested in monuments as well as the nightlife ( clubs etc...no..Metal is not the only type of music that I listen to ). Also I plan on maybe going over to Sweden for a day just to check it out. Any of you guys have any suggestions on the best way to get there ( Trains etc )? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'll be traveling by myself so would love to meet up with any one who will be in town for the fest or any of the locals. Always up for meeting new people. Specially Metalheads

I'm thinking about traveling over to Oslo for Inferno but the hotel costs are a little steep for me going by myself. Is there anyone who wouldn't mind an american crashing on their couch for 4 or so days? I can hit up duty free and bring free booze as payment too(or cash if that is preferred)

My ticket has listed that venue only, not sure if i'm entitled to all the venue's/clubs

Oslo Public Transport at Night

Hi,

I have recently moved to Oslo from the UK and I have no clue as to how the public transport works at night, as the impression I have after looking at trafikanten.no is that everything pretty much shuts down after midnight.

Can anyone tell me what public transport is availible after the festival finishes on each night? (I need to get to Arvoll / Grefsen).

any info is appreciated!

sorry for going offtopic here....but need some information of you norwegian folks.

will be visiting norway in september, and saw, that there will be a festival/openair/concert (i don't know) called karmoygeddon...

unfortunately, i don't find any informations about that in english....
just saw that cor scorpii and sorgsvart (unbelievable) will play there.

is this true? or what's about that carmoygeddon?
