It was a real pleasure to visit the festival! I feel so lucky that I was there. My first Inferno was great and I'm eager to come back next year!!! The line-up was great! So many nice bands! And Cor Scorpii surpassed my expectations. All I wished came true!

I can honestly say I am rather dissapointed with the club day. I wanna see five of the bands and all five are at different venues, with two of them clashing with each other.

The lineup for the fest is good, but when I look at it Negura Bunget, Gallhammer, Vreid have all released several albums and are club day bands. Skitliv have released an EP..... and make the main stage... Makes a lot of sense really.

Looks like I might be able to see Vreid, Gallhammer and Negura Bunget IF i can get into the venues.

You -do- know they're about a 5-10 minute walk apart, don't you?!?

Yes, it sucks. I wanna see all those bands, too. Not the best Inferno line-up ever, methinks. Balls have been dropped with this one - and not in the way intended!

Well to be honest...sad to say that, but I wish I hadn't booked my flight already, this is the worst Inferno Line up until now from my point of view....Of course, The Bands are not bad, but it is unbalanced and you can or could see all big ones recent time ago both in oslo or in my fault, germany...here we have the Term "0815" which means totally average, and thats somewhat my problem...for me most of the bigger bands are festival-whores, and there's no real killer band. Even 1 Metalcore, but also for heavens sake only one real pagan-band. Above all "Gorgoroth", I don't like that, that the Inferno bookers take position in the legal affair and do even book this crap-"band"....I've seen them just in November, and they were not as bad as expected, but still crappy, I'd rather like to see Dimmu then... Nevertheless....looking forward to se Gallhammer and THE BATALLION!

Man...I expected Celtic Frost and Manes...

I was going to have a look at the 2007 lineup, so I clicked the "past years" section, and the "2007 lineup" section, and found both the 2007 lineup and the 2008 lineup. ^^

As for the clubs:
How many people can Rockefeller hold, how many can John Dee hold, and how many can the rest of the clubs hold? Just so that I get an idea of how quick I have to be to see some certain bands.

Oh, and roughly how long do the bands play?

The main "plan" for the club day is that john dee and blå ends fairly early so that you can move on to the other clubs in time to see the last bands playing there. Everyone can't go everywhere anyway as there's a limit to the number of people the various clubs can let in (much like everyone can't go downstairs to john dee during the other 3 days). From blå to maiden might be cutting it close, but i think it should be doable.

We didn't really expect that many to want to see all out of negura, urgehal and gallhammer actually. But i guess that is a compliment to you guys... you're got a more diverse taste than we initially thought

Gotta disagree about the Thrash thing there. Of course the revival is headed by old bands like Kreator, Destruction and Exodus, but there are so many new Thrash bands around. Right now the kings of modern Thrash in the wake of the revival must be Evile and Municipal Waste.

Depending on how long Sahg plays, I could possibly catch both Sahg and Gallhammer as their start times are 45 minutes apart. But Garage is still a bit of a walk from Blå.

Overall, awesome lineup.

I have to say that I'm totally satisfied with the lineup for 2008. I mean, come on, there's plenty of good music to choose from for everyone! I for my part wouldn't have expected anything else. For someone like me, that likes to listen to Black Metal as much as to Thrash and Death Metal, it couldn't be better. That's why I like Inferno: It offers the most important styles of Extreme Metal with a selection of both internationally successful (Satyricon, Overkill, Unleashed, the list goes on...) and relatively unknown or at least "smaller" bands.

In addition to Lars' posting (to which I fully agree), you gotta point out, that especially in the beginning days of both Thrash and Black Metal, the two subgenres had quite a lot in common. Hell, it never really stopped to be that way! And with most of nowadays bands you can't even draw a clear line anymore. Has somebody checked out how many of them describe their styles on MySpace as "Black Metal / Thrash Metal / Death Metal"? OK, you don't have to do the math , but there's as many of them as there are grains of sand on the beaches of this world. But maybe that's just my opinion...

However, one thing that we probably can all agree on, despite differing tastes: Inferno's gonna work out once again to be a great time!

There is a thrash revival going on right now, which is very fucking welcome, thank you very much.

I think the lineup is amazing! I'm quite "let down", so to say, with the club day line up. There are so many good bands, spread in all clubs. It's gonna be hard choosing who to go watch. But then again, hands up whoever went to a festival and watched all the bands of the bill.

And last 2 years' Inferno will always overshadow future ones, considering the were the first gigs of 2 reunited legends, so don't complain. It's one great line up which will satisfy everyone.

Hmm... How do you come to that conclusion? When i do a quick count of the death, black and thrash genres from the lineup i find about exact the same amount of bands within the 3 genres. It depends a bit on how you categorize some of those "inbetween" bands of course, but not many (if any) of those would end up in the thrash category i think.

It might be that the lineup previous years have been leaning more towards the black or death genres so that might make it seem like there's a lot of thrash this year. It was however always meant to be an extreme metal festival, not a black metal festival that some people seem to think for some reason

They should indeed have placed the smaller bands on the club day! I mean, Negură Bunget, Sahg, Vreid and Urgehal on the club day? While Whip, Skitliv and The Batallion play on Rockefeller and John Dee.

Apart from that, this festival should be renamed to "deathfest" or "thrashfest", 'cause that's more what this seems like... I'd expected a little more variety between the genres.

Why would they want to place so many of the good bands on the club day?
Will they be playing at the same time, or will it be possible to run between the clubs and see at least four of the bands?

I've already seen Vreid and Urgehal, and I want to see Sahg, but I still want to see Urgehal and especially Vreid again. And Negură Bunget is playing on Maiden.

I for one can't believe Incense's marketing actually worked.

Maybe it's because I already knew about Negura and Gallhammer (and strangely managed to guess Den saakaldte) but I'm not too impressed with that lot (There's 2 Metalcore bands in there too...). In any instance, most of the bands I want to see (Shag, Vreid, Urgehal, Gallhammer and Negura) are on the first day...

As an aside I''m glad to see Obsidian Throne on the bill and, although I've never cared for them personally, it's good to see Desecration finally playing a large scale festival that isn't solely dedicated to Death Metal.

Strange? 1349 played in 2002 and 2003. Khold played in 2004 and 2006, and now Tulus will be playing (yeah, it's not the same band, but still). It's two years ago, and they have two times as many albums to play from.

But Sahg on the club day! Fuck no! And we know Cor Scorpii won't be playing on the club day... otherwise they'll have to hurry between the scenes, and I don't think they'll do that. Same thing with Goat The Head, Slagmark and Cult Of Luna. I actually wonder which bands will be playing on the club day. After all it's gonna be ten of the bands.

Rumours has it this will be the complete lineup for Inferno 2008. I wasn't there this evening, so I don't know for sure, but it seems reasonable that Cor Scorpii, Sahg, Gorgoroth and Negură Bunget will be playing, so I guess the list is correct. Anyway:
