The only bands I've seen already are Vreid (twice), Behemoth and 1349,and I will be seeing them again, cos they're good, and I'm not aiming at creating a list of bands I've seen. If a band is good I will very gladly see them 10 or 20 times. I will be seeing Gorgoroth at Wacken too. No one comes to Malta (only Rotting Christ, and had to play secretly), which is why I travel for concerts, and never complain.
In fact even at Wacken itself, many bands I've seen multiple times, but I'm still going cos I want to and it's fun. I had the bad luck of watching Bodom twice already, and might have to see them again, but certainly not gonna complain of watching Kreator for the 3rd time, or Watain for the 2nd.

Lol! I gathered! Like I'm sure I've evoked, I'm -still- going to the festival and I'm going to love it. I don't mind at all seeing any band a dozen times each either (And YES, that includes Metallica, folks! Like it or lump it!). But Inferno's not your average festival - at least not in comparison to the other European fests. In your case, things are a bit different (Secretly?! Malta's not one of those freakishly religious countries, is it?!) but in Ireland, we're pretty much spoiled for choice. And that's before you get to Britain, who are spoiled furthermore.

It's not about a list (if it was, I'd be rather proud of it anyways!), it's just nice to go to an unusual location and be surprised by an unusual festival like I was for the last two years. I can put up with the fact that it's run-of-the-mill this year AND still love it, but surely you can forgive asking for more than an inch from a festival that can -easily- give you a mile. Like I've already said: "Where's this year's Emperor"?!

Its much the same with me really. Ive seen Vreid (twice), Gorogoroth, Behemoth (3 times), Satyricon (three times), 1349 (twice), Negura Bunget, Gallahammer, Ureghal, Destruction, Skitliv, Shining and Desecration (numerous times).

A lot of the rest of the lineup Im not really that bothered about seeing that much. Makes it worse as in my opinion Satyricon have been shite since Rebel came out and Behemoth have been shit since Satanica was released.

I've never seen Satyricon myself, but I have seen Destruction five times, 1349 four times, Gorgoroth twice and Overkill, Onslaught and Mortal Sin once each. Whereas I love and worship all of the afformentioned bands (bar Mortal Sin), I just feel it's a bit of a rip given the repitoire of this particular festival and the fact that I'm travelling to Norway and paying to see bands I've seen before and bands I don't give a shit about (Cult Of Luna, Tristania and Krux).

That leaves Behemoth, Satyricon (just to say I saw them), Shining and a choice between Negura Bunget, Gallhammer, Vried or Urgehal as the only highlights for me. I'm still looking forward to it, but it's now a bit more in spite of the festival rather than because of it!

Out of this line up I've seen Sahg twice, Vreid twice, Behemoth, and 1349 (sans Frost). There are so many bands that I've been wanting to see but either they haven't toured through Seattle, just haven't toured the US, or I was too broke to see them when they did.

I already have my list of must see bands, Thursday and Saturday are going to be rather busy for me.

Although I think a fair few bands on the bill have missed Oslo off their recent tours so it's probably more of an issue for us foreigners then the majority of attendees.

Not a problem for me (being non-northern-hemispherian). I've only seen Vreid, of all the bands playing.
I'll be seeing my two favourite bands for the first time.

I think he means to emphasise how many times some bands on the bill have played around Europe in recent memory (I doubt that many of us haven't seen Satyricon at least once in the last few years). Although I think a fair few bands on the bill have missed Oslo off their recent tours so it's probably more of an issue for us foreigners then the majority of attendees.

Ultimately tho' It'll be a great fest', it always is. The line up is pretty solid, in spite of the timing clashes on Wednesday, and I'm sure at least one band that's toured a lot will do something special for their set (probably Satyricon or Gorgoroth). Indeed, I'm really looking forward to seeing Gorgoroth again since their London gig in November was a real disaster sound-wise. 134 on the main stage should be pretty special too.

It's not just you. It really disappoints me that Urgehal, Negură Bunget, Vreid and Sahg are playing on the club day. Vreid's playing time hasn't been revealed yet, but I suspect it will be either during the Sahg set or the Negură Bunget set. All right, I've seen Urgehal and Vreid before, but Vreid have released their best album since last time I saw them, and last time was _awesome_. It's not a disaster to miss Urgehal, but having to choose two bands out of four really sucks. Those were four of the really good bands on the lineup as well.

And these bands play on the club day, while Skitliv, Whip, The Batallion and Cor Scorpii play the other days. I'm happy that Cor Scorpii isn't playing on the club day, but to me it would've made more sense placing these bands on the club day, as they are not that big.

And I think there's too much thrash/death this year... as well as no less than three Kvarforth bands. Black metal is quite poorly represented this year.

Yet the lineup would've been ok if only I would've been able to see all of Urgehal, Negură Bunget, Vreid and Sahg instead of choosing two of them (which I guess I will have to do).

Wait a minute! I just forgot about something: isn't there a fairly realistic chance that King Diamond might play?!

I know he was sick in hospital of recent, but appearently he has plans to tour this year. Oh, and yes Absu would be a killer prospect!!

Mithras might play it, and I reckon Chton will be on the bill somewhere, too....

Last time I saw Celtic was in fact in Norway on the tour with Kreator, and the venue is smaller than the Rockefeller (Betong), so it's definitely do-able. And they're not just an influence on Norwegian musicians, he's a friend of many of them too.

...and they couldn't possibly use Anders Odden (their old live guitarist who hails from Norway) because...

For that matter this is Celtic Frost we're talking about here, there's probably about 1000 Norwegian Musicians who grew up learning these songs, I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for them to find a stand in.

I'll be honest tho' out of the bands confirmed so far I'm only really fussed about seeing 1349, Skitliv and Shining... and in Shining's case it's more to give them a 2nd chance after that travesty of a show in London last month (the whole band was sick... and Kvarforth spent half of the set masturbating).

I can't help but feel partly responsible but meh....

I just brought up the name of a band I wanted to see, and you're right saying that bar miracles occuring, they won't play it anyways. Maybe some satanic band will play it, instead!
